Orville Hall and team to create grand Magnum finale
Orville Hall, creative director of the Magnum 10 Long 10 Strong series, says topping the previous concerts will be a tough task, but it will be achieved.
“Everything is gonna be more high energy and we had a one week break so we had time to prepare to make sure everything goes as planned. I can’t divulge everything that we have planned because we want it to be a surprise for the fans and media there, but one of the things that we have planned is what we call a ‘Magnum Moment’. The Magnum girls will be doing a dance presentation and we definitely went into the lab for this one,” said Hall.
Hall, who has been a respected voice in the dance and dancehall spaces has been a trained choreographer since 1995. Then in 1998 he moved on to obtaining his Associate Degree in Performing Arts. He then joined the Stella Maris Dance Ensemble and Patsy Ricketts’ group.
“I wanted to learn all kinds of dances, not just dancehall. I wanted to learn about lines and angles and levels and that sort of thing,” he said.
After formalising himself, Hall started the dance group, Dance Xpressionz in 2000, became a lecturer on Dance Evolution, then two years ago, they started dance classes which they dubbed, Xpressive Moves. In reference to their recent activities, Hall says, “This year we have toured extensively and have done a lot of major projects. We have also started a party called Xpression Thursdays at the Limelight Club in Half Way Tree.”
Hall is quite an authority on dance, so when the Magnum team recruited him to become the creative director of their anniversary road show series, Hall now says, “To be truthful, when we first met I thought it was going to be a lot more difficult, when I thought about all the things that had to be pulled together. But when we started, it went great. The models, dancers, production team and everyone was excited and full of energy and fully cooperative. Anything that people see Magnum advertise has been delivered. Now I can add ‘creative director’ to my resume and the experience has been great. I wish there were 10 shows.”
He concluded, “Saturday night’s show in Junction is going to be unbelievable with limitless energy and vibes.”
Featured on Saturday night’s free show are: Lady Saw, Kip Rich, I-Octane, Swatch International, DJ Nicco, the Magnum girls, Boasy Bwoy Floyd and more.
