Twisted Kilt: The not so ordinary Choice this Christmas
The Christmas weekend is finally here and for those who won’t have the family get-togethers and reunions there are other ways to celebrate the season. Many like the comfort of their own homes but others who wish to wine and dine with friends can make thier way to a trendy restaurant of thier choice. One such restaurant is Twisted Kilt in Montego Bay. Complementary to its name, Twisted Kilt: Pub and Grub, is centrally Irish themed in decor, situated along Montego Bay’s hit strip.
Upon arrival there is an ambience of solace and relaxation as visitors are greeted by the cool breeze of the north coast and the restaurant’s friendly host. Guests are afforded an amazingly scenic view of the waterfront next to Doctor’s Cave Beach while seated on the terrace.
Relatively new, the pub was opened on November 1st, 2008, just a little over a year now after the owner, Andre Dixon realised that there was a need for the services his establishment provides in the island’s second city. What are these services, you might ask. Twisted Kilt is a haven for sports lovers, party goers and anyone who leaves home with the intentions of having a good time. Equipped with HI-Definition flat screen televisions, and a tasteful sports decor this is an ideal spot to watch major sporting events while liming with close friends and relatives. In addition to this every night has a different theme like Karaoke Sundays and Retro Fridays, all of which makes Twisted Kilt a niche in the recreational market of the city.
Reflective of this casual setting, the menu contains a selection of food that are not the typical ‘knife and fork’ dishes. For appetizer customers can choose from jerk, buffalo, fried or garlic wings served with ranch dip and garnished with celery sticks and shredded carrots, red peas soup or house spring salad. The wings were seasoned to perfection and with just one bite the meat basically melted off the bone. That is what you call finger licking good as your fingers will be totally covered in the delicious spicy sauce.
Several variations of beef, pork, and other seafood sre available. One of the most scrumtious however, is the fish (marinated the day before with herbs and spices) made from a red stripe beer batter and chips served with a tasty ketchup sauce, a selection of salt fish dishes and grilled chicken breast. The menu also include other seafood delectables that are not ordinarily the choice for Christmas but just as tasty.
For dessert either assorted ice cream or an Irish whiskey bread pudding are the choices. If these delectable treats aren’t enough, the reasonable prices make them even more delightful for the customers’ satisfaction. To wash down all that goodness, the bar is stacked with a wide variety of beverages in accordance to the liking of visitors, wherever they come from.
Overall the restaurant is among Montego Bay’s finest establishments for tourist and locals (who actually constitute for 65 percent of their business). Great food, atmosphere and hospitable hosts make Twisted Kilt an ideal location to chill out for all.
