Intoxicating mixes kept patrons on a musical high at Drinkxx
The Christmas party season got off to a flying start last Friday at 147 Constant Spring Road in Kingston, with the staging of Drinkxx, a joint promotion of Icon, Legends and Murge Entertainment.
From as early as 10:00 pm , patrons began streaming into the venue, and once the party went into overdrive, there was no turning back.
In command of the early segment of the ‘juggling’ round was DJ Charm who gave a good account of himself.
Ali Patch and his crew from TNG Muzik then took over the reigns and turned up the radar as they pumped hits one after the other.
But by the time DJ Shine, Chromatic and DJ Karyzma positioned themselves on the wheels of steel, the patrons who numbered near the one thousand mark, showed their pleasure with shouts of approval and blazing torches.
The musical high was maintained throughout the night, as patrons were seen doing the latest dance moves, particularly the ‘skip to ma luu’ which many embraced with open arms.
The music ranged from dancehall, to hip hop, a dash of R&B and old school.
Emery Meghoo, one of the promoters of the party, was quite pleased with the night’s proceedings. “We’re quite happy with the way things turned out and the patrons really had a good time. We selected a crop of DJs whom we felt could keep the patrons entertained and the formula certainly worked for us,” he said.
Drinkxx which began in 2003, has been staged on five previous ocassions. ‘We came up with the idea for the party one day when some friends and myself were having a regular ‘drink up’. We consumed various liquor mixes and the name for the party popped up,” Meghoo explained.
The next in the Drinkxx party series is set for July 2010.
