Seba, Reno seek to maintain lead
MT PELIER, Hanover — Leaders Seba United and Reno FC will seek to maintain their joint lead in the Captain’s Bakery/Western Confederation Super League through the Christmas season when the seventh round kicks off today.
Seba and Reno are ahead on 16 points from six games and lead Frome, on 14 points from six games, while Bamboo are next on 13 from five games.
Only five games will be played today as the match between promoted Exidos and Frome will be played on Tuesday at the Bounty Hall Community Centre.
The leaders are playing away to Hanover teams — Seba United at Mt Pelier and Reno at Prosper — and both are expected to win.
Seba are coming off a big 4-1 win over defending champions Wadadah last week, while Mt Pelier are in eighth place on five points and struggling to find consistency.
Midfielder Iton Scott, who played the last two seasons with Mt Pelier, is back with Seba and will seek to help them beat his former teammates.
Reno, with the best defence in the league with just one goal conceded so far, should get the better of last-placed Prosper, who have just earned a single point in their six outings so far.
After winning their first four games and leading early, Bamboo have not won in the last two weeks, but will face a confident Catherine Hall team in Montego Bay.
Both teams have played five games, but five points separate them as Bamboo are on 13 and Catherine Hall on eight.
Former champions Granville United are in an unfamiliar position in mid-table with just six points and will have a tough away assignment at Petersfield.
Violet Kickers and Wadadah, both with one win each, will clash at the UDC field in a game that will be crucial to both.
Violet Kickers are, however, coming off their first win, a 2-0 margin over Exidos, while Wadadah are still smarting after a 1-4 beating from Seba.
Today’s schedule:
Prosper vs Reno at Rusea’s
Wadadah v. Violet Kickers at UDC
Catherine Hall vs Bamboo at West Green
Mt Pelier vs Seba United at Mt Pelier
