Cavalier replace Santos atop Super League
SANTOS lost their place at the summit of the Claro/KSAFA Super League after they went down 2-3 to Mountain View at Excelsior High School yesterday.
Cavalier returned to the top after they beat Bull Bay 1-0 at the Spring Complex in one of two games at that venue.
In other results, Rae Town defeated Maverley/Hughenden, 2-0; Constant Spring turned back Meadhaven, 3-0; Real Mona stopped Barbican, 3-1, and the JDF edged Duhaney Park, 1-0.
Cavalier lead the standing with 27 points, ahead of Rae Town and Santos, on 25 each. Constant Spring stay fourth with 21 points, followed by JDF on 20, Mountian View 19, Barbican 15, Real Mona 14, Bull Bay 13, Duhaney Park seven, Meadhaven six and Maverley/Hugehenden, four.
At Excelsior, Demetrio Billet gave Santos an 11th-minute lead, but Troyland Williams equalised for Mountain View eight minutes after the break.
Orane Sutherland made it 2-1 for Santos three minutes later, but Yoan Blake’s 72nd-minute goal and Jahmiah Pettigrew’s 84th-minute strike saw Mountain View to victory.
In the double-header at the Spring Complex, Locksley Thomspon scored a penalty in the 19th minute for Cavalier to top Bull Bay.
In the other match, Denzil Mitchell (16th), Gawayne Speed (23rd) and Andrew Davis (72nd) scored in the hosts’ win over Meadhaven.
Rae Town defeated Maverley on a second-minute goal from Renel Colley and Damion Jackson’s strike two minute before half-time at Breezy Castle.
Allien Whittaker seventh minute free-kick carried JDF to victory against Duhaney Park.
At Barbican Complex, Steve Richards (eighth, 68th and 88th) netted a hat-trick for Real Mona in their win over the hosts. Desean Mekks scored Barbican’s consolation in the 71st minute.
In the Major League, UWI remained atop the table depite going down 1-3 to Rockfort.
In other results, Central Kingston lost 1-0 to Whitfield Town; Police National stopped Swallowfield, 2-0; Greenwich Town clipped Cooreville Gardens, 1-0; Molynes defeated Olympic Gardens, 1-0,, while Liguanea and Brown’s Town played to a 1-1 draw.
UWI kept their lead with 19 points, one more than Police, who jumped three points clear of Central Kingston, who slipped to fourth.
At UWI Bowl, Rayon Brown and Shawn Freckleton scored a barce each for Rockfor in thier win over the hosts; Whitfield’s Ashtek Taylor grabbed the game’s only goal in their win over Central Kingston; Police National defeated Swallowfield with goals from Ander Palmer and Howard McKenzie, while David Stultz got the lone goal in Greenwich’s win against Cooreville, and Sydney Manyon did likewise for Molynes in thier match against Olympic Gardens.
