Caller first!
Dear Editor,
Yvonne McCalla Sobers wrote a letter on manners in your December 17 paper. Yes, we all need to have manners. Not sure if or where it was written that some things are automatic – meaning that we should know right from wrong.
If you have placed a call to some place then it is common courtesy that you identify yourself before wanting to know “whom I am talking to”.
At this time with the extent of crime and violence, the recipient of a call would not know whom he is disclosing his identity to and therefore it behoves the caller to identify himself in the first instance.
