Cavalier stop Greenwich in Bell KO qualifier
LOCKSLEY Thompson’s penalty six minutes before the end gave Cavalier a 1-0 win over Greenwich Town in the Jackie Bell Confederation qualification final at Constant Spring yesterday.
Thompson, the team’s leading scorer in the Super League, was scoring his first goal of the Jackie Bell campaign and it was enough for them to top the Confederation play-offs.
Both teams walk away with $50,000 each and advanced to the quarter-final round, which kicks off next Tuesday.
They will be joined by the Confederation’s six Premier League representatives in Arnett Gardens, Tivoli Gardens, August Town, Harbour View, Boys’ Town and Waterhouse.
On Tuesday, Arnett Gardens will entertain August Town at the Tony Spaulding Complex, while Greenwich Town take on Boys’ Town at Tinson Pen.
On Wednesday, Tivoli Gardens meet Harbour View in the feature match of the round at the Edward Seaga Complex and Cavalier tackle Waterhouse at the Spring Complex. All games start at 3:00 pm.
