Fogo humble Mt Salem in KO quarters
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Senior League club Fogo United ended the giant-killing run of Mt Salem after beating them 2-1 at the UDC field on Monday in the quarter-finals of the St James Captain’s Bakery Knock-out.
Brian Robinson scored twice for Fogo, who had beaten Barrett Town 4-0 in the previous round and will face the winners of the Seba United versus Abes game in one semi-final on Friday.
Mt Salem had eliminated Super league clubs Violet Kickers and defending champions Wadadah in the previous two rounds and had gone into the game as favorites.
Robinson scored in the 44th minute to give Fogo the lead, but Andre Pringle equalised in the 78th minute for Mt Salem.
Two minutes later Robinson scored again to put Fogo back in the lead for good.
Meanwhile, the first finalists will be known tomorrow when Granville and Catherine Hall square-off at the UDC Field.
West Green United, meanwhile, beat Copperwood FC, 2-0, at Albion on Monday in a first round play-off in the St James Steve Bucknor Knock-out.
Oniel Spence in the 18th minute and Floyd Collins in the 60th scored for West Green, who will now meet Juniors FC on Friday.
Today Rose Mount and Seaview will meet at Albion.
