THE PRIME MINISTER’S CHRISTMAS TREAT
Suffer the little children to come unto Vale Royal for a fun filled day. And over 1,400 of them did. The prime minister’s annual Christmas treat was staged at Vale Royal last week Wednesday and TEENage was there to capture all the highlights for you. Organised by the Office of the Prime Minister and headed by Jacqueline Sangster Brooks, the event saw children from over 10 schools, constituencies and children’s homes.
TEENage spoke with the prime minister and when asked about the selection of schools, he said that focus was mostly placed on schools from the corporate area.
This is because it would be difficult to facilitate schools from the rural area as it relates to transportation. He went on to say that focus was also placed on homes with special children because this is the time of year when we show everybody we love them and we care.
Entering the state home, TEENage was convinced that the premises had transformed into a school’s playground because of the large number of children at play. Joy, laughter and the charm of youth saturated the air. This was accompanied by booths of all types of food and games to the children’s pleasure. About five minutes after there was a downpour of rain, but this did not stop some of the children from having fun. For some, the rain was an added joy. That was until they were called out of the rain. In a very short time the rain stopped and they were back out enjoying the treat.
With over 23 sponsors and the outstanding efforts of the Office of the Prime Minister and the Garfield Christmas Wonderland Team, the treat was truly a success.
TEENage is sure every child that attended saw Christmas early. corporate Jamaica really pulled together to create a wonderful event.
