SDC goes beyond the call of duty
The Lighthouse Basic School in Kingston got a facelift recently when the Social Development Commission (SDC) visited New haven and Riverside Gardens communities.
Travis Graham, field supervisor at KSA SDC office said the “SDC used the information derived from its basic school audit, identified the gaps for the Lighthouse Basic School. To complete the Early Childhood Commissions registration process, the school needs to proper kitchen facility; and to keep the attendance consistent, the school has to be beautified. This created the basis of the project. To strengthen the governance structures and stakeholder participation for sustainable community development, all community groups and stakeholders were a part of the planning and execution of the project. I want to thank them all for a job well done.”
The SDC facilitated the building of a kitchen at the Lighthouse Basic School; repainted the facade and furniture of the basic school; while creating a green space.
