Barbadian Jordan helps England PP win in South Africa
PRETORIA, South Africa (CMC) — Barbadian pacer Chris Jordan captured three wickets Thursday and helped the touring England Performance Programme team whip South Africa’s Nashua Titans by 75 runs in their four day match at LC de Villiers Oval.
After securing a bulky 190-run first innings lead, England PP declared their second innings at 155 for four at lunch on the third day, setting the Titans a target of 345 in five sessions.
The hosts plunged to 270 all out as fast bowlers Jordan and Ajmal Shahzad picked up three wickets each to secure the England PP win inside three days.
From their overnight 44 for one, England PP added a further 111 runs before their declaration, Michael Carberry leading the way with 76.
The Titans were mildly threatening the target in mid-afternoon on 200 for five but Jordan, who plays for Surrey in the English County Championship, claimed two quick wickets to break their resistance.
The 21-year-old Jordan finished with figures of three for 32 while Shahzad (3-47) and off-spinner Tredwell (2-48) shared five wickets.
