Identify prayer vigil contributions
Dear Editor,
Thanks for publishing the information on the National Prayer Vigil subsequent to our meeting with the governor general. On behalf of the organisers of the event, I wish to express sincere appreciation for the publicity your article has afforded us. This will doubtlessly boost our efforts to attract broad-based participation.
However, your article states, “‘Persons who wish to make monetary contributions can do so with either cheque or cash to the St Ann’s Bay New Testament Church of God…’ Wisdom said.” It was actually Rev Wilfred Alexander who spoke about contributions and what he said was that persons could make contributions to the St Ann’s Bay Ministers’ Fraternal, care of the St Ann’s Bay New Testament Church of God. The information Rev Alexander sought to convey was that as chairman of the St Ann’s Bay Ministers’ Fraternal, the church for which I am pastor would function as the collection centre, not that the contributions would be made to the church.
Although the error may seem inconsequential, it could present major administrative challenges if, based on the information in your paper, persons proceed to send contributions for the prayer vigil to the St Ann’s Bay New Testament Church of God, without clearly identifying such funds as contributions for the prayer vigil.
On behalf of all the organisers, I also thank you for supporting this and other initiatives by the National Committee for Justice, Unity Peace and Healing.
Rev Monroe C Wisdom
Chairman, St Ann’s Bay Ministers’ Fraternal
