Eden seek double in Phillips League finale
THE winners of the inaugural Dr Peter Phillips East Central St Andrew Community Leagues will be decided today with the Eden Club going for a unique double.
In the football final set for 3:00 pm at the Norman Manley playing field, Eden Strikers will tackle Max Social United and will take on Molynes United in the netball final at 4:00 pm.
If successful in both finals, Eden could walk away with up to $110,000, which would be $60,000 for the football competition and $50,000 for the netball equivalent.
Eden will be depending on their top scorer Kwame Wint with four goals, along with Dean Ferguson with three and Leon Douglas with two.
But they will have to try to contain Max Social’s five-goal marksman Anthony Pete, a former Norman Manley High Manning Cup winner; brothers Romario and Josimar Campbell and Rohan Palmer.
Member of Parliament Dr Peter Phillips might be donning his boots for the Maxfield Masters XI, which will play an All-Star Media team comprising members of the local media within Phillips’ constituency.
Alongside Dr Phillips will be league director and former national and Camperdown player Marvin Fisher; Leslie “Puppet” Creary of Santos fame; Michael Cameron, Michael Brown, Elvis Jennings, Harold Smith and Trevor Edwards.
For the Media XI should be Livingston Scott, Karyl Walker, Lancelot Lemonious, Julian Richardson, Ross Sheil, Kimmo Matthews (Jamaica Observer); Oral Tracey, Courtney Sargeant, Cliff Williams (TVJ), alongside Rohan Daley and Wayne Walker (CVM).
