Cornwall capture Rural Area Under-14 title
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Cornwall College captured the ISSA Rural Area Under-14 title yesterday after beating William Knibb Memorial 3-0 in the final played at the Elliston Wakeland centre.
All three goals came in the second half, in the final 23 minutes of the game, as the youngsters battled heavy winds.
Ackeem McCarthy gave Cornwall the lead after 67 minutes when he scored from a free kick.
Tevin Kerr doubled the lead, also from a free kick, in the 73rd minute, while Zachary Headley scored the third in the 90th.
The teams qualified for the final after contrasting wins in the semi-final last week.
William Knibb blanked Dinthill Technical 3-0 at Charlemont on Friday afternoon, a day after Cornwall beat Knox College 2-1 in extra time at St Elizabeth Technical High in Santa Cruz.
Andre William scored twice and Shanar Brown got the other for William Knibb, while Ackeem McCarthy scored the winner for Cornwall College in extra time after Keneil Grignon had given them the lead earlier.
