Type 3 health centre for Duncans
DUNCANS, Trelawny — The Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) and Sharecon Ltd on Tuesday signed a contract valued at $26 .7 million for the construction of a new Type 3 health centre on the grounds of the Duncans Health Centre in this parish.
Work on the project is scheduled to begin later this month and should be completed by the end of July.
The new facility will replace the existing Duncans Health Centre which was damaged by hurricane Dean in 2007.
JSIF said on completion, the new facility will boast five examination rooms, offices for dentist, administrative staff and mental health personnel, as well as medical records and registration rooms.
It will also have a reception area, utility rooms, a registry and water storage tanks.
The new centre which will provide services ranging from mental health, child health, dental and maternity services will also have a reception area, utility rooms, a registry and water storage tanks.
The Duncans Health Centre currently serves residents of Duncans and about 10 other communities in Trelawny.
