Tantalising Tilapia
The sun might very well have been relentless Saturday last at the Ace Supercentre where Aquaculture and Tilapia Farmers hosted the “Taste the World — Tilapia Cook-off 2009”, but the participating chefs turned it up further as they tantalised taste buds with tastes of the world. Patrons enjoyed from 10 contesting booths the tastes of Japan, Europe, Eastern India and, of course, our own shores.
The event sought to increase the awareness and hopefully sales of our ‘home-grown’ fresh water Tilapia fish, by exposing the public to the versatility of Tilapia. At the end of the event the awards for most creative use of ingredients was awarded to: East Japanese and runners-up Catering by Lorraine and Longville Park Farm; Most Tasty dish: Longville Park Farm and runner-up Catering By Lorraine; Best Impression overall: Casual Gourmet and runners-up Catering by Lorraine and Longville Park Farm. The award for Crowd Favourite went to Catering By Lorraine with Little Ochi the runner-up.
