Protect environment
Dear Editor,
We are running a race against time with regard to the preservation of the environment. The Montreal and Kyoto protocols have actually paved the way for the development of better strategies for the protection of the environment. The world is in a precarious position for the actual disintegration of the land masses and the forests in the near future. We can do more individually to preserve the permafrost of Antarctica and the Arctic zones, thereby saving the life forms in such regions which seem to be on the verge of extinction.
There are many things associated with the demise of mankind so I urge fellow members of the planet to follow the environmental protocols. We are strangling and stifling future generations of what actually belongs to them. Greenhouse gas emissions which are creating havoc can be redirected to plants for consumption – so this can prevent accumulation.
Devising mechanisms to preserve the environment has been getting a lot of support from two major superpowers which did not seem so keen on the environment earlier – the USA and China.
These two countries have pledged their support to the cause of sustained happiness for the human race. As a Third World country, we can play a crucial role in the enhancement of the lifelong hope of those for whom the future belongs. Garbage disposal and other practices can be used to embrace what the bigger, more financially viable countries preach. We are certainly dragging our feet as we do not seem aware of the implications for the surroundings we live in.
Of course, I have utmost confidence in my Jamaican nationals in their conservation and protection efforts in the Cockpit Country and Blue Mountains.
