Christmas comes only once a year…
‘TIS the season for bonuses and I have decided to share a mere morsel of mine with my depression-laden contestants on Digicel Deal or No Deal. Digicel Deal or No Deal’s top prize is now $3 million. For the contestants who have gone; Christmas only comes once a year and you missed it.
Last week I was intrigued to welcome the fast-talking, loud- laughing, fire cracker of a woman in Ms Duhaney. A contestant has to be smart in playing My Game as you need to have a good peripheral vision of your surroundings, be alert, sensitive and responsive; qualities she did not possess.
With much gusto Ms Duhaney began Digicel Deal or No Deal by selecting case number 16 in hopes of it holding the top prize of $3 million. With much jitters and nerves getting the best of her, she then removes $200,000 and $300,000 within her first six selections.
Being the kind and generous man that I am, I threw out $25,000 as my first deal hoping that she would learn the rules of the game early unlike our last two contestants who failed miserably to take the offer and run. Without much consideration, she declined.
To my consternation she was another overambitious player.
I increased my offer to $118,200. Unwilling to quit so “early in the game” she, along with encouragement from her supporters, exclaimed,”No deal.”
In quick succession she made her selections completing the third round then proceeded to decline the most money she has ever seen at once in her life as I offered her just under $190,000. Then she removed the $3 million from the tree, then the $500,000 and without much ceremony, the $2 million. I believe it was at that time she realised that Digicel Deal or No Deal was not netball as, unlike netball, there is serious money involved.
Determined to get that $1- million prize, she made two last desperate selections which dissolved her millionaire potential. But with “significant” figures still on the money tree I offered her one last go at pride, $189,000. Then a resounding shout of “Deal” echoed from the audience and like a true follower Ms Duhaney followed.
This weeks’ tip: Be prepared and attempt to follow the show weekly and see the strengths and weaknesses of previous contestants, and at least try not to make the same foolish mistakes.
