St Georges clip August Town 2-1
BUFF BAY, Portland – St Georges SC returned to winning ways when they eeked out a 2-1 victory over August Town in their Digicel Premier League game at Lynch Park yesterday.
St Georges goals were scored by Brian Wollaston (75th minute) and Girvan Brown (89th), while Ajuran Brown (84th) replied for August Town.
In another game, Arnett Gardens and champions Tivoli Gardens drew 1-1 at the Edward Seaga Complex. Kevin Wilson scored Arnett’s goal in the 36th minute, while Owen Powell responded for Tivoli in the 60th.
The game was a closely contested one, but the home team looked more industrious going forward Damion Harwood and Romeo Parkes coming close on a number of occasions.
August Town responded through Nicholas Smith, Ajuran Brown, Akeem Thenstead and Damian Newton, but found Jermaine Taylor, Ricardo Taylor and custodian Anthoniel Williams hard to beat.
In the second half, the Georgians continued to attack through Harwood, Parkes, Wollaston and Dobson. And it came as no surprise when they took the lead through Brian Wollaston in the 75th.
August Town equalised when they were awarded a free-kick just about 30 yards out as Ajuran Brown kicked over the wall in the 84th minute, silencing the partisan supporters.
But the home team surged ahead again five minutes later, thanks to Girvon Brown.
