Bridgmohan still ahead in Oklahoma after brace
OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (CMC) – Jamaican Jermaine Bridgmohan remained comfortably ahead at Remington Park after his double on Friday on the nine- race programme.
Bridgmohan produced two commanding rides to pilot Buddleia to victory in the day’s first event and then push Parklane Profit to another handsome win in race six.
He has 66 wins and is 17 clear of the second-placed Clifton Berry, with two weeks left in the season.
In the US$26,500 race one going just over eight furlongs, Bridgmohan tucked the hot favourite Buddleia in behind the leaders along the rails as BJ’s Party Dice and King’s Approval battled for the early advantage.
Heading into the stretch, Bridgmohan sent the two-year-old colt wide and he took over the running in mid-stretch, sprinting to the wire by 2-1/4 lengths to win comfortably.
In race six, Bridgmohan put Parklane Profit to the front from early but could only eke out a narrow lead as Yo Ceeya and Skeeter Gal threatened.
Bridgmohan again made his move heading into the stretch and the mare responded gamely, shaking clear of the field and reaching the post by four lengths.
