Boys’ Town whip Village in Under-21 contest
Boys’ Town hammered Village United 5-1 at Collie Smith Complex to move within a point of third-placed St Georges, who drew 0-0 with Arnett Gardens at Lynch Park in the JFF Under-21 League on Friday.
In other games, Harbour View and Tivoli scored 1-0 victories away to Clarendon teams Sporting Central and Humble Lions, respectively.
At Collie Smith, Kadeem Fairweather gave the visitors the lead after four minutes with a scintillating strike from outside the area.
However, well-executed headers from Shawn Aken (71st) and captain Kemar Watson (75th) put the home team ahead.
Aken slotted his second of the game in the 79th and Ricardo Martin fired home a spectacular volley from 30 yards to put them 4-1 up in the 82nd.
Watson sealed the win with his second goal of the afternoon when he slotted home from close range Martin’s cross in the 87th.
Village’s goalkeeper Keith Hamilton was red-carded after he was verbally abusive to the match officials.
Boys’ Town move to 26 points – one behind St Georges, who played to a 0-0 draw with Arnett.
At Brancourt, Ranique Muir’s strike on the hour was enough for Harbour View to keep their two-point advantage at the top after Tivoli defeated Humble Lions 1-0 on Jemar Dawkins 61st-minute goal.
Humble Lions’ Shanroy Morris (57th) and Michael Newland, and Tivoli’s Ryan Newman (86th) were shown the red card in that game.
At Drewsland, the home team defeated Rivoli 2-1 to stay three points adrift of Boys’ Town.
Harbour View lead the standings with 31 points, followed by Tivoli with 29 and St George’s with 27.
