Tell the truth of financial governors’ salaries
Dear Editor,
I write with disgust re your cartoon on November 19 with the note “G8 + 1”.
I think it is high time that the Jamaica Observer post the truth as it affects the country’s well-being and stop the political charade.
Mr Editor, just in case you did not do your homework (as is evident, or you would not have allowed such incorrect information to be printed), please see a detailed listing of financial governors’ salaries, including that of the G8 + many other countries. Now, you tell me if all the G8+1 countries are being paid less than that of Jamaica.
It is high time that our media outlets, whether printed or otherwise, stop fuelling the divide among our people and print straight facts and do not misconstrue the facts to suit our political inclination.
Jamaicans have a bad-mind mentality, not to mention our crab-in-a-barrel syndrome. Once we are getting ahead, who cares about the other crabs in the barrel? This is why the murder rate is what it is.
Is the Latibeaudiere salary value for money? This is another debate. However, what I do know of Jamaica and our mentality is that public sector workers should never ever in this lifetime be paid what they are really worth, therefore we should all shut up and be satisfied with the service we get from the public sector because “what we pay for is what we get”.
Media outlets (you know yourselves), stop being political garbage dumps.
