STETHS sweep County Cross Country champs
DARLISTON, Westmoreland – Athletes from St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) swept all four sections of the County Of Cornwall Athletics Association’s (COCAA) High Schools Cross Country Championships held at Maude McLeod High yesterday.
The event attracted 20 schools and 230 athletes and was described as “a big success” by COCAA vice-president Rudolph Robinson.
The event, which was run on the roads through the town, marked the start of the high schools track and field season in western Jamaica.
Dwayne Hibbert took the Boys Under-19 6K race in 27 minutes and 51 seconds ahead of Ian Reid of Albert Town and Dwayne Gillings of Grange Hill.
Khesanio Hall won the Boys Under-15 4K event in 17 minutes and 16 seconds, beating Maud McLeod’s Leon Powell, with Nicholas Misodor of Little London rounding out the top three ahead of the Munro College pair of Jason Lewis and Herbert Thomas.
Nickeisha Williams won the Girls Under-19 4Kilo section, running 19 minutes and 43 seconds, with Frome Technical’s Atana Segree second in 21 minutes 20 seconds and Shakera Morgan of STETHS third in 21 minutes and 35 seconds.
STETHS runners took the first two places in the Girls Under-14 3K event with Alephia McLaughlin winning in 14 minutes and 04 seconds ahead of Ackliah Robertson and Frome Technical’s Stephanie Barrett.
