Iley Dread to write story of his life
Macka Diamond became the first dancehall deejay to write a book, well, singer/producer/promoter Iley Dread is looking now to settling down and finding some time to live his dream of writing a novel.
Colin ‘Iley Dread’ Levy’s book will offer a personal insight into his life, his thoughts and some of his experiences.
“Not only will it explore personal issues and experiences, but it will also express my views about the world today and about the welfare of Jamaica,” Iley Dread, the CEO of Kings of Kings Productions said.
Iley says the time has now come for him to stop thinking about doing it and actually making it happen. “It’s been long in coming and I think it’s the perfect way to open myself up more to the music industry”, he said.
Writing a book is not the only thing on this singer’s agenda, his vision is to produce movies and “show the world the fullness of Jamaica and the capability of the country….not only the people, but the culture and beauty of the country,” Iley commented.
Last weekend Iley performed on the Then and Now Concert series with Sanchez, Pinchers and Steele at Ed Resto Bay, more popularly known as Rainbow Heights, in Montreal.
The KOK head opened his set with one of his biggest songs in Canada, one which was nominated for a Juno Award in 1998 for Best Reggae Song, Flowers In My Garden. After delivering two songs for his recently released album, Unleashed, he made way for headline acts Sanchez and Pinchers who gave their fans all they wanted and more.
