Anthony B hits the American Music Awards
Reggae recording artiste Anthony B is looking forward to returning to Jamaica today after attending the American Music Awards (AMAs) in the United States on the weekend.
“The experience was one in a million, words cannot describe it, a great experience. It makes you realise the possibilities that lie ahead for reggae music if we can take it seriously and structure our music like a real industry,” Anthony B told the Observer. “I was able to get good exposure for my Rise Up album, I hung out a little backstage with Rihanna, Judge Matthias, Reba McIntyre and that was great fun.”
The artiste says appearing on the red carpet at the AMAs was a major opportunity to expand the fan base of his particular brand of soul-searing, inspirational reggae music. Anthony B, known for songs such as Fire Pon Rome, was interviewed by ABC entertainment reporters as well as reporters from entertainment and music affiliates of numerous television and radio stations worldwide who had descended on the awards show for that reason. The AMAs were broadcast live on major US network ABC, and seen by millions of people worldwide.
