Where are the shows for us?
It is unfortunate that so many Christian TEENagers feel there is a lack of entertainment and social activities specially suited to them.
In a country where partying and self-enjoyment are ways of life, it seems strange to hear such an argument but a major problem being experienced by Christian TEENagers is that they have nowhere to go. While their non-Christian friends are out on the town enjoying the many parties and places designed for their enjoyment, they are at home, flipping through TV channels with nothing to do and nowhere to go.
Yes, there are events like Genesis and Fun in the Son, and parties such as Crazy Praise and Jesus Party, which are all Christian-oriented. But, unfortunately, these kinds of events are few and far between.
The number of Christian entertainment events is only a minute fraction in comparison to the total number of secular events held. For every one Christian event, there are at the very least 50 secular events, thus leaving Christian TEENagers feeling like they are missing out on fun and enjoyment.
It is also true that individual churches may hold events throughout the year which provide entertainment for all their members, but it is not the same as when large groups of young people go out to enjoy themselves in the Lord.
It is a pity that a country such as ours, where Christianity is the principal religion, cannot keep its Christian young people engaged. There is, however, no need to be disheartened. The Bible itself says that where two or more are gathered in the name of the Lord, there shall His spirit also be. So for all Christian TEENagers feeling void of enjoyment, just grab a couple of your friends, say a prayer and go out and enjoy yourselves in a wholesome and godly way because Christians need fun, too.
