Spearmon to attend Bolt 9.58 SuperParty
Triple Olympic and World Championships gold medallist, Usain Bolt, is all set to host several international athletes at the Bolt 9.58 SuperParty on December 5 at Richmond Estate, St Ann.
Heading the list is American sprinter Wallace Spearmon, Bolt’s friendly rival at the 200-metre distance.
So far, other international athletes who have agreed to come include Bahamian, Debbie Ferguson McKenzie and Trinidadian Richard Thompson.
While Sanya Richards and Michael Phelps have indicated they will not be able to attend due to previous commitments, they have agreed to support the event.
Phelps will be sending personal memorabilia for auction at the event. The list is not complete but the Team Bolt promises to reveal more names in the weeks leading up to the event.
Bolt is extremely pleased to have been able to encourage these personalities to come to the party as he sees this as his way of promoting and showing off his home.
“I have met some very talented persons over the last two years and I want them to see and understand how special Jamaica is. I will use this time to not only party with them, but to show them some of the beauty and culture of the island,” he said.
Among the sights that Bolt plans to share is his hometown Sherwood Content where they will be able to see the Health Centre for which he is raising funds.
There are plans also to take them to visit Bob Marley’s birthplace in Nine Miles, St Ann, as well as many other attractions. The athletes will also be invited to speak to a group of youngsters at a mini sports clinic which will also form a feature of the event.
The 9.58 SuperParty will feature International Hip Hop/R&B star The Dream, plus a host of top Jamaican performers headed by the King of Dancehall Beenie Man. ZJ Liquid, Jazzy T, Coppershot, Stone Love and DJ Usain Bolt himself will be some of the names keeping the energy high with music at the event. This will be a one-of-a-kind event and certainly must not be missed.
