Waterhouse hold Tivoli 1-1
Title holder Tivoli Gardens rallied from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw with Waterhose in their Digicel Premier League encounter at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex yesterday.
The visitors took the lead against the run of play through Jonathan Williams, who scored a spectacular effort in the 29th minute. Williams ran onto a lobbed pass from Damion Williams before slamming home the volley.
However, Tivoli drew level through Owen Powell in the 38th minute. The burly striker rose high at the back post to head home Horace Sharpe’s right-sided cross.
Tivoli should have collected the maximum three points, but poor finishing let them down. The unmarked Sharpe, who was played through by Keammar Daley, fired his right-footed effort wide left from eight yards. It was Tivoli’s best chance of the second half.
Captain Navion Boyd and Daley were denied by Waterhouse’s custodian Richard McCallum in the 65th and 85th minutes as Tivoli hunted the winner.
