H’View edge Boys’ Town 1-0
An 85th strike from Marcelino Blackburn led Harbour View to a hard-fought 1-0 win over 10-man Boys’ Town in their Digicel Premier League match at Harbour View Mini-Stadium yesterday.
Despite playing with 10 men for 64 minutes after Fabian Dawkins was red-carded for striking Richard Edwards, Boys’ Town created the better scoring opportunities but failed to capitalise.
For their profligacy in front of goal, Boys’ Town paid the price and succumbed to a late goal started by the mercurial midfielder Jermaine Hue.
The midfield general picked out Lovel Palmer with a 40-metre diagonal pass down the right flank, who in turn, crossed for Blackburn to scramble home from close range.
Harbour View with only their second home win and their third consecutive victory, joined Tivoli Gardens on 25 points, but remained third on goal difference.
Boys’ Town, who are suffering their third defeat of the season, stayed in fourth spot on 20 points, six behind the leader.
In a late kick-off, Arnett Gardens edged Portmore United 2-1 in a contentious encounter in which Portmore finished with nine men.
Ricardo Cousins saw red in the 74th minute, while goalkeeper Dwayne Kerr was red-carded in the 90th minute.
