JPS to light up Garfield’s Christmas Wonderland
Garfield’s Christmas Wonderland, scheduled to take place on December 18-20 on the lawns of the Hope Gardens, will see patrons enjoying some wonderful lighting displays as the venue will be transformed by a kaleidoscope of colours, courtesy of the decision of one of the event’s major sponsors, Jamaica Public Service (JPS), to ease the burden of the cost of the electricity bill.
According to Audrey Williams, corporate communications officer at JPS, it was easy for the company to be a part of the event as “it touches the lives of children – the nation’s promise for a brighter future”.
“After reviewing the proposal from the organisers, we felt compelled to pledge our support to an effort which will bring such happiness to some 400 children from children’s homes, at this, one of the most joyous times of the year,” Williams continued.
JPS, she noted, boasts a long tradition of assisting the nation’s children, be it through sponsorship in education, health or sports, or simply through their contributions to entities such as Musgrave Home for Girls and Food for the Poor.
Williams also had high praises for Electro Tech Productions, organisers of the event, for their thoughtfulness in having a day designated for kids from the children’s homes across Jamaica.
Coming on board to be a part of Garfield’s Christmas Wonderland festivities, also, is Honey Bun and they will be doing an attraction for kids to participate in, which includes ginger bread house and donut and pretzel making, as well as baking and cooking games.
The three-day entertainment package will take place on the lawns of Hope Gardens and patrons are being asked to come out early as only limited seating will be available.
Garfield’s Christmas Wonderland will be the first of its kind in the island and will see children getting the chance to interact with cartoon characters such as Garfield, Batman, Krypto The SuperDog, Pink Panther, Care Bears, and local cartoon characters such as KFC’s Chicky, and Chubby from Jamaica Beverages.
Garfield’s Christmas Wonderland is sponsored by the Jamaica Observer, TVJ, KFC and Pizza Hut, Scotia Bank, New Line Motors, Jamaica Beverages, ATL, JIIC, JPS, Honey Bun, Marksman, King Alarm, Café Blue, Jamaica Pegasus, Oasis Party Rental, Tru Juice, Breezes, Trident, Guardsman Group, among others, and is endorsed by the Jamaica Tourist Board, the Ministry of Education and the Child Development Agency.
