H’Morrison still perfect in U-19 basketball
WAKEFIELD, Trelawny – Herbert Morrison High maintained their perfect run in the Under-19 section of the ISSA/KFC Western Conference high schools basketball competition on Tuesday after beating Muschett High, 86-67, in Wakefield.
The win, Herbert Morrison’s third, took them to six points, one more than defending champions Cornwall College, Muschett and William Knibb Memorial. Muschett, however, turned the tables in the Under-16
game, winning 27-23 for their second victory.
Meanwhile, Rhodes Hall will make their debut in the Under-16 section today when they take on Mannings in Sav-la-Mar. Mannings will also host Spot Valley in an Under-19 game.
In Tuesday’s Under-19 game, Herbert Morrison came from behind to beat the home team, thanks to 38 points from Jamoi Richards and double-doubles from Jervis Hamilton and Rodeine Reid.
Muschett led 20-17 after the first quarter, but Herbert Morrison outscored them, 23-10, in the second to take a 40-30 lead at half-time.
Herbert Morrison maintained their lead 58-52 at the end of the third, then put the scores out of question with a big fourth quarter.
Hamilton scored 26 points and grabbed 33 rebounds; Reid scored 12 points and had 11 rebounds, while Nico Campbell had 11 points. Jason Billings led Muschett with 32 points, while Kemaro Kellier scored 19.
In the Under-16 game, Shenoy Daley led Muschett with 13 points, while Odean Clarke scored eight points and David Brown, 15 points and 19 rebounds for Herbert Morrison.
