85% say abortion is morally wrong – published Monday, September 14, 2009
. In respect of a woman that has been raped/violated, do you think she could do a ‘Morning after’ wash? Can you comprehend, appreciate the mental wreck and indignity done to a lady by rape and that filth of a man with his mental depravity could ever have the audacity to expect that that lady should birth for him? Explain the obligation she is supposed to have to do this. By the way, a rapist can sometimes be considered synonymous to a murderer. – Spooks
. Abortion is murder and it’s wrong and evil. And it is a sick plague to this world. – Ruby
. The day one of you Pro-Lifers gets raped and keeps the child then you can discuss this topic with me. Hope it’s by your father, then we see what you do then. – kgn 13 yute
. If men could get pregnant abortion would not be controversial. – ROL
. MY BODY MY CHOICE!!! – Lisa
. Nuff a unno weh gwaan like seh pickney come from supermarket, skin up unno nose a road when the said pickney dem a beg unno a stop light and a run off unno mouth bout abortion nu right. A bunch a flushing Hypocrites! – Real Talk
. Hitler’s (mother) wanted to abort him but didn’t. Now thanks to him, 11 million people got killed in Germany. So much for pro-life. – Odean Binns
. It can’t be moral to tie up your baby in an abandoned animal shelter and leave it to the mercy of wild dogs and pigs, just so you could get to go to a stage show. Some children are better off not being born, but some of us have this notion that suffering is noble. Tell that to the souls of the girls who died screaming in agony at Armadale, you hypocrites. Go adopt one of the sacred lives. – Shamrock
. I’m glad your mother did not feel the way you do when you were dependent on her for food and breath. Some of you who are promoting abortion may not have been here if someone did not talk your mother out of having one. – wirewaist
. The bottom line is one doesn’t commit the act of murder if it destroys something that cannot live and breathe on its own. Abortion is a choice that one takes to get rid of something unwanted. when one has the cold germ one takes prescription to get rid off it. Pro-choice all the way. – Kerriann
. I always love when these debates on abortion come up. I love to hear when people talk about morality. Oftentimes these are the same persons who are committing adultery, fornication, homosexuality, corruption and thievery. Jamaicans are a bunch of hypocrites, that’s what we are. – Speed
. Don’t you think it’s a greater evil when you see these kids in the boiling sun, walking barefoot on the hot ground, their body filled with sores and rashes, begging so they can buy something to eat? Next thing, when are we going to have a morality poll on homosexuality since we have start to make decisions for people – decisions that would normally be made in the bedroom? – Smokey Black
. Who has a right to question the morality of a woman’s situation and her decision-making abilities when she may have to terminate a child? That is between the woman, God, and the doctor. Not the state and certainly NOT the church. That a society is willing to be so lacking in empathy on a situation that affects the health and well-being of so many women, especially the underprivileged, is IMMORAL. – Rebekah
. Mi nuh care wey no one sey, prevention better than to cure. Nuff a dem girls know who dem a sleep wid mek dem decide (fi abort). – BEV
. My favourite line on this is a quote from former US President Ronald Reagan: “It is sad that most of those who support abortion are actually living, which meant they were born too, and the same crowd support other vices too that could not lead to reproduction of the human race.” – Oops
. What a crock! What place do morals have in a den of iniquity? – Seamus
. Don’t you just love it when the faithful preach that God is going to punish us as a nation if abortion is legal? I wonder if these people can read, if they have looked at other countries that are well managed, where abortion is legal, literacy is high, health care is available for all, and the state is able to provide education for every child. Where is God’s wrath on these nations? This is why Jamaica will be in a perpetual state of poverty. Too much ignorance and superstition. And not enough studying of Leviticus and Deuteronomy, but I guess that could be blamed on illiteracy. Your jaw will drop wide open if you have the patience to read these two books of the Bible. – First John One
Hon Usain Bolt (OJ) published Wednesday September 16, 2009
. Totally support the OJ honour. Renaming of Highway 2000 is very premature. There is no need to rush or go overboard. – Man a Yard
. Congrats, Usain, You and the rest of the guys have made us proud, but I do think the Hon Usain is too much for him. He needs breathing space to enjoy his life… Second thing, the highway big enough can share fi more people. Mr Patterson can have part name after him and Asafa. Why are we forgetting him? Why the prime minister never name part of the road in Trelawny after Bolt? Why highway? I think he should have had dialogue with us first before making all these announcements cause you know how we Jamaicans are. – Nadia
. Well done, Bolt, but what happen to the other runners? Don’t they deserve a little recognition too? Das why wen dem sell go di USA wi can’t seh nutten. – oppositon#1
. Thank you, Mr Bolt. I am a Jamaican living in America and I was so proud. It goes to show, even though people in other parts of the world call us Third World, we still can kick their asses. Give thanks to our government. Now, we can use this to teach our young to stop the shootings and the killing that is hurting overseas. Much love and respect to my people. ONE LOVE – CAVERIL PRYCE
. Congrats to you, Honourable Usain Bolt, Sir. Jamaicans are truly proud of you, whether we are at home or abroad. Continue to mek wi feel proud. All of the people dem dat mi wuk wid nuh stop chat bout yuh…dem a mad over yuh mi bredda, lol. Prosperity to yuh an’ di female athletes dem. – Baby-Bob
. We need to plant 2,000 acres in 14 parishes of Bolt yam for export for a better, more appropriate legacy – NG
. I am happy for Usain and appreciate the attempts of the government to applaud his achievements. He has made us all proud as Jamaicans. But Like all other 23-year-olds, he should be left alone to enjoy his youth. He should be free to get drunk every now and then, to get crazy and wild every now and then, to walk into a gas station to purchase condoms every now and then – all without having to look over his shoulder wondering who might be watching. We also need to be careful that we don’t create another Brian Lara situation where too much fame too fast, though well intentioned, ruins another young man’s life. – Steven
. I personally think the OJ is premature. Let the youngster mature first. Please don’t trace me. That’s my opinion. – Western
. Congratulations the Honourable Bolt. Now, you just need the Queen of England to Knight you so that I can refer to you proudly in my speech as Sir, the Honourable Bolt. I hope that won’t be too much for my tongue. If it is too much, I’ll say only Sir Bolt…Sure Bolt…Soar lightning! And please remember in your travels to check your luggage well in case some naughty individual(s) tamper with them, seeing you are now a diplomat. That would not put a negative blanket on you only, but all Jamaicans would be put to shame. – Lilla Oakley-Gordon
. Once you truly understand, Bruce’s folly is clear…Many of our distinguished citizens put forth their life’s work for our nation and they get an OJ. In the space of two years a 23-year-old gets it by making six spectacular runs. Now, a more fitting recognition at this stage of the young man’s life is an OD, and when he proves to be the greatest of all time, then he gets an OM…Ambassador is fine, like was given to our beloved Merlene, but OJ at 23? – Jos
. The Order of Jamaica is a great choice but naming the Highway 2000 after Bolt is going to send the wrong message to the young people. It’s going to be all about racing and driving fast. The Government should have named the multi-purpose stadium in Trelawny in honour of Usain Bolt and called it “Usain Bolt Sports and Entertainment Complex”. – DAN
. Change back Portia Simpson Miller Square to Three Miles! Di name so long and stupid, the pickney can’t remember it…And leave Highway 2000 alone! -I A Dat Me Still Say
. How some of unno suh badmind…Bill Gates is a college dropout…Need I say more…Can something good not happen in Jamaica and we don’t all come with AK47s blazing to shoot holes in it…Jesus! Give me a break! – Peaches
. This man has not only done more than any other of our illustrious athletes, but has done WAY better than any other athlete in the history of track and field. He continues to break his own unmatchable records. Mr Bolt has performed at a higher level than any other Jamaican in any field of endeavour, when compared to the rest of the world. He has clearly outclassed any politician in the history of Jamaica. Yet the politicians had the audacity to bestow on him a fourth-class honour. What an affront! When one looks at the line-up of first-class honorees, our national heroes, our most honourables and our sirs, a paltry few have done what The MOST HONOURABLE Mr Bolt has done for our country at his still tender age. I think that our beloved Usain is deserving of Jamaica’s highest honour. – Jacob Henriques
. We all love Bolt and marvel at his achievements. But what happens WHEN, not if, he breaks his records again? Or breaks the 400-M record? What, rename a parish after him? There are countless other ways for Jamaica to show gratitude for this great ambassador. Think, Prime Minister think? Can you? – Rudy Truckas
. The OJ to Bolt highlights the need for us to have a more differentiated honours and award system. The time has come for us to have performance-based awards separate from character-based awards. Suppose we give an individual an OJ and later they commit a crime and discredit themself and the award, what do we do? Withdraw the award? The highest level of performance award would be good for Bolt at this time. I think an OJ is too premature. – Alert
. Usain Bolt is a beast, No one can stop him! – akeem
