Six held in St Thomas ganja bust
PORT ANTONIO, Portland – Six men held Tuesday following the seizure of more than 400 pounds of ganja in St Thomas have been charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
The Constabulary Communication Network – the police’s information arm – yesterday identified the six as Fabion Davis, 25, and Clayton Reid, 27, of Dalvie district in St Thomas; Percival Neuville, 33; Sean Matthews, 32; Steven Mills, 34; and Robert Robinson, 30, all of Portland.
The illegal drug was found at Dalvie in Golden Grove, St Thomas. The value of the drug was estimated at $2.4 million.
The police reported that the men were held during an operation in Manchioneal, Portland and Golden Grove, St Thomas between Monday night and Tuesday morning. During the operation a boat was intercepted by the police and when searched ganja weighing 401 pounds was found.
The 60-horsepower Mercury outboard engine used by
the boat was also seized by the police.
Police said they believed the drugs was destined for Haiti, as part of a drugs-for-guns trade, a criminal network between both countries.
