The activities, which will run until May 9, will be held under the theme: “A transformed education system: The path to national development”.
The church service, meanwhile, will take place at the Seventh-day Adventist Church at Port Henderson Drive, Portmore, beginning at 10:00 am. The Reverend Roy Ennis will preside.
Included in the activities to be held during the week are:
. Read Across Jamaica Day on May 5;
. Teachers’ Day on May 6; and
. Helen Still’s Professional Development Day on May 7.
The reading of the Governor General’s Proclamation declaring Education Week and May 5 as Read Across Jamaica Day will take place on April 30. Dates for a courtesy call on the governor general and the Kingston Bookshop appreciation luncheon are to be set.
