Positive approach and experience may win retired worker a job
I have been semi-retired and have not worked in five years. I want to re-enter the workforce as a part-time administrative clerk but with this tight job market, I can’t find anything. Any suggestions?
YOU have chosen a difficult time to find a job, but a bit of creative marketing may win you a job despite the odds.
Open your search to any type of part-time job, and be flexible with your hours. Be positive and pleasant when you walk into retail stores and show that an older person can be as energetic and perky as a young adult. Dress youthfully while still wearing age-appropriate clothing and sell yourself as a total package.
A mature worker must be sharp, quick to learn and fun to work with. Make those personal appearances with résumé in hand to local stores and companies in the area, and don’t focus on your five-year hiatus from work.
