Deli Works’ Festive Offerings
By now ‘Pixie’ names would have been exchanged, the office tree up and a venue finalised for the annual office party. We had a blast last year with our friends at the Passport Office on Constant Spring Road and thanks to partners Deli Works are once again able to offer a catered office Christmas lunch.
That’s right, 30 persons employed to a single company will enjoy one of Deli Works’ Holiday Menu packages (see Page 7). The packages, ranging from Happy Holidays to Jamaican Christmas Feast, are in much demand by those who want all the Christmas trimmings without the stress.
There’s very little time left to execute the perfect office party. Okay so you really ought to have planned ahead, but there’s still time to find a professional caterer and discuss the menu items carefully. Although come Christmas time many non-pork eaters indulge in a little ham, check your budget.
The budget
Nobody likes to discuss money, but it’s important for the caterer to know just what he/she is working with. Turkey, ham, roast pork and chicken are all much more expensive come Christmas time, and this year, due to the hurricane and unrelenting rainfall, things are not only scarce but more expensive than ever.
The Venue
Just because the party is at the office certainly doesn’t equate to drab. Plan the event around the Christmas tree with the pixie gifts. Delegate the music to the person who is on top of the latest sounds. Use poinsettias for additional festive colour.
Taking an event outdoors means planning for inclement weather as well as seats in the shade. There’s the nuisance of flies and food too during the day, so bear this in mind.
Portion control
This is where servers become an absolute must. At least until all have had their first plate. Caterers actually portion food. Reckon (with meats) on at least two slices per person. It’s important to remember that there’ll be enough food if it’s all nicely portioned.
When and how to pay?
Caterers invariably request a 50 per cent deposit to confirm the event and the balance on the day of the event. So do ensure that all monies are collected ahead of time.
Special dietary concerns
Vegetarians will not take kindly to being left out, so discuss menu options with your caterer.
Roast pork and turkey might be the popular choice of many. Deli Works offers the traditional dressed ham with citrus glaze and roast chicken with cornbread stuffing. If fish is desired there’s the interesting and super delicious Mahi Mahi with ginger citrus aioli. Careful consultation affords better options.
On the day.
Ensure that the area is ready for caterers, who will, by the way, need access to the kitchen. Do give the caterers enough time and space to set up. There should be one contact person for the caterer. The office ‘event’ co-ordinator should have a list of fun activities planned and a master of ceremonies to handle the proceedings.
Here’s wishing you a truly successful office party.
