Gunmen spray car with bullets
GUNMEN yesterday sprayed a motor car travelling on Washington Boulevard in Kingston with bullets, killing the male driver and injuring his female passenger.
The motorist, identified by the police as 19-year-old Andre Green, alias Roundhead, was in the south-bound-lane of the dual carriageway, in the vicinity of the Minna Wilmot overhead bridge, when his car was pelted with bullets.
According to Constable Courtney Gibbs of the Constabulary Communication Network, at approximately 3:30 pm residents of the nearby Drewsland community reported hearing explosions and called the police.
Green was found slumped over the steering wheel of the car, which was seen along the soft shoulder of the usually busy roadway.
The unidentified woman, who was shot several times, was taken from the car and rushed to hospital. Up to yesterday the police were unable to say what condition the woman was in.
There were also reports that a bystander was shot and injured during the attack, however, this could not be confirmed by the police.
About 14 spent shells were counted from the intersection where the shooting started to the approximately 30 metres along the boulevard where the vehicle came to a rest.
The car was decorated with bullet holes in the driver’s window and the rear right window.
