CVM, union to try resolve dispute today
CVM Television’s management and the University and Allied Workers Union (UAWU) are to meet this afternoon in an effort to resolve an industrial dispute threatening the company’s newsroom operations.
The newsroom staff reported sick yesterday, severely reducing its capacity to function normally. However, indications are that the workers will resume this morning to facilitate the meeting at 1:00 pm.
The UAWU had written the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, detailing a number of issues related to their working conditions which it wants resolved.
A spokesman for the union told the Observer yesterday that it was hoping that the management would address the issues at today’s meeting.
