Trial of SuperPlus five starts today
THE trial of the five employees of the SuperPlus Food Store at Park Crescent, Mandeville, who are accused of assaulting two other employees of the supermarket on January 16 this year, is scheduled to begin today in the Gun Court, downtown Kingston.
The five are Jeremy Chen, the managing director; Ainsley Henry, store manager; assistant manager Ryan Lindo; driver Garth Fagan; and Fabian Foster, a contractor employed to the store.
They are facing charges of kidnapping, illegal possession of a firearm, unlawful wounding, assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and assault at common law.
The five were arrested following allegations that at about 7:30 pm on January 16, two SuperPlus employees Renardo Dawes, 20, and Michael Sinclair, 18, were allegedly taken to Chen’s home in Mandeville where they were allegedly badly beaten after being accused of stealing three crates of Guinness stout. It is also alleged that a dog was allowed to attack one of the men.
Both young men were hospitalised for the injuries they suffered during the beatings.
