Security Minister to meet GSAT scholars
FIVE recent recipients of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association’s(JTA’s) Aubrey Phillips Memorial Scholarship will pay a courtesy call on the Minister of National Security, Dr Peter Phillips, at his Oxford Road office on Tuesday.
The scholarship recipients are:
. Odane Foster, a grade seven student at the Manchester High School;
. Kristen Fletcher, a grade 11 student at Manchester High;
. Kimberley Blake, a grade 10 student, also at Manchester High;
. Carlton Miller, a grade eight student, also at Manchester High; and
. Mehika Brown, a grade nine student at the Bishop Gibson High School.
The Aubrey Phillips Scholarship is named in honour of the late JTA past president, Professor Aubrey Phillips, who is also Phillips’ father. Professor Phillips, who served as head of the JTA in 1967, was also a former principal of the Moneague Teachers’ College and an outstanding facilitator of education and development in Jamaica.
