Accused Air J ticket office robber for trial next month
MARTINDALE Gordon, the man accused of disguising himself with fake whiskers and mustache while robbing an Air Jamaica ticket office in New Kingston last July, is scheduled to face trial on November 16.
Gordon, who was deported to the island about two years ago, is to face charges of robbery with aggravation and illegal possession of firearm in the Gun Court.
The accused is alleged to have gone to the office under the pretence that he was there to do business, when he allegedly pulled a home-made handgun and proceeded to rob the place. He was challenged by the security guard on duty and disarmed. He was later arrested.
Gordon is alleged to have pulled off several such robberies at a string of stores in and around the Half-Way-Tree area over a period of time, including the Anbell store at Kings Plaza on Constant Spring Road and Fun Fone.
Charges are pending in those matters, the police told the Observer.
