Solicitor-general is deputy chairman of Caribbean Financial Action Task Force
SOLICITOR-GENERAL Michael Hylton, QC, has been elected deputy chairman of the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF).
Hylton, who was unanimously elected at the annual meeting of the Council of Ministers of the CFATF in Panama City, on Friday, October 8, will hold office for one year.
The main objective of the CFATF is to ensure that member countries take appropriate steps to prevent and control money laundering in the region.
The CFATF has established various guidelines as to legislation and systems to prevent money laundering and the financing of terrorism, and it supervises an ongoing programme of mutual evaluation of members.
The CFATF is comprised of countries in the Caribbean Basin and in Central America.
