DJ Vybz Kartel for ID parade
DANCEHALL DJ Vybz Kartel will face an identification parade today, as investigations into murder and shooting allegations against the entertainer and three members of his entourage continue.
The DJ, who was on Tuesday jailed for illegal possession of ammunition and also charged with assault following his onstage fight with DJ Ninja Man during the Sting concert, will be held in police custody until an application is made in the Gun Court by his legal counsel.
Vybz Kartel and his three friends – Jules Watson; Anthony Wright, alias “Singer Blinger”; and Patrick Samuels, also called “Roach” – were interrogated Wednesday by investigators at the police Flying Squad headquarters in Kingston in the presence of their attorneys, Wentworth Charles and Valerie Neita-Robertson.
The DJ, who is an owner of a licensed firearm, was reported to have ammunition which he could not account for and was subsequently arrested by officers from the Flying Squad.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Reggie Grant, is leading the investigation.
An internal investigation has also been launched into the issuing of a firearm permit to the 27 year-old DJ.
