St Ann woman killed by truck
ST ANN’S BAY, St Ann — A St Ann’s Bay housewife, who was reportedly on her way to a funeral, died after being run over by a truck, on Tuesday.
Phyllis Campbell, 52, died while being treated at hospital.
The driver of the truck, 28 year-old sales representative, Kevin Garrison, from Bridgeport, St Catherine, has been charged with manslaughter and dangerous driving and was remanded to appear in the Ocho Rios Resident Magistrate’s Court on November 6.
The police reported that at about 1:40 Tuesday afternoon, Campbell was walking along Main Street in St Ann’s Bay, heading in an easterly direction towards the market.
A red Isuzu truck, owned by Confectionery and Snacks, was in the process of reversing and hit Campbell. She was taken to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital where she died while receiving treatment.
Campbell was charged, Tuesday, with dangerous driving but after further investigations was slapped with the additional charge of manslaughter.
