Mexicans’ interrogation continues today
THE interrogation of four Mexicans who were taken into custody during last week’s $293-million drug bust in Montego Bay is expected to continue today.
Yesterday police sources told the Observer that the suspects were being interrogated in Kingston, in the presence of their attorneys. It is expected that charges will be laid against the four men after the interrogations have been completed.
The four were arrested last Tuesday after 294 kilograms of cocaine were allegedly found on the aircraft in which they were traveling. The Air Commander jet, with four people on board, had apparently landed at the Sangster International Airport for refueling.
Police say the plane, which was en route to Honduras, had arrived from Venezuela.
Acting on information, narcotics police searched the plane where they reportedly found 294 packages of the drug, each weighing one kilo. The contraband and the aircraft were seized and the pilot, co-pilot and two passengers were arrested.
The police have since immobilised the plane which is under guard at the Sangster International Airport.
