St Ann residents to benefit from expo
OCHO RIOS, St Ann — Residents from seven communities within the Cave Valley Development area in St Ann, will this month benefit from an exposition which links them with several agencies in the parish.
The July 30 exposition will be organised by the Cave Valley Area Committee with support from the Social Development Commission (SDC). It will be staged at the Bohemia All-Age School, and has a 10:00 am start time.
Audrey Grant, SDC Community Development Officer (CDO), said the main objective of the exposition was to create synergies between the citizens of Aboukir, Bohemia, Borobridge, Cascade, Cave Valley, Cuffie Ridge and Mount Moriah and the various agencies that served them.
Other objectives, she said, “are to allow for citizens to know of the services that should be available to them; to get the youth and elderly to participate in community efforts; and to be hopeful about brighter projects for the area”.
Communication between the citizens and the agencies present, Grant said, is central to the day’s activities.
The agencies set to participate in the exposition will include the:
* Ministry of Education, Youth, and Culture;
* National Works Agency (NWA);
* National Water Commission (NWC);
* Jamaica Fire Brigade;
* Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF);
* Ministry of Health;
* Registrar General’s Department
* and HEART/NTA, among others.
As part of the activities planned for the day, there will be displays from the agencies, a forum, football and domino tournaments, video games and talent shows, Grant said.
