Sans Souci Lido rewards top housekeeing staff
STANLEY Pryce and Karen Forth, who both work in Sans Souci Lido’s Housekeeping Department, were awarded the Houseman and Attendant of the Month awards for February 2003 in recognition of their excellence on the job.
The awards were conceptualised by Sans Souci’s executive assistant manager, Leila Love, to maintain the highest level of guest room cleanliness and staff members’ attitude towards their daily tasks.
“I noticed more a vibrant atmosphere within the department since we started this incentive award,” said Love. “The award encourages the staff members to be constantly alert and perform the best they can, and allows everyone to be competitive in a positive way.”
Each employee in the department is judged in three categories:
* personal appearance;
* cleanliness of the rooms of each houseman/attendant’s block; and
* competence in organising the cupboard of chemicals and cleaning equipment located in each block.
Random checks are conducted by Love, the executive housekeeper Estria Richards, and a supervisor of the department twice each week, and each houseman/attendant is notified of his/her scores for the week.
Pryce and Forth scored 91.0 per cent and 89.7 per cent averages respectively in February.
Both were presented with their choice of spa treatment in the resort’s luxurious Charlie’s Spa.
One of the objectives of the competition is to ensure that each guest’s stay in Jamaica is memorable.
