Murder in the Mud Valley
A 42 year-old man died in hospital Thursday as a result of stab wounds he sustained during a fight at Mud Valley district, St James on Wednesday.
He has been identified as George Winter, otherwise called “Blacka” of Pitfour in the parish.
The Constabulary Communication Network’s (CCN) liaison officer for St James reported that at about 7:30 am on Wednesday, Winter and a woman were allegedly involved in dispute at Mud Valley district when another man intervened. A fight developed between both men and Winter was stabbed in the abdomen and chest. He was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he died at about 8:55 Thursday morning.
Norbrook man arrested for ganja
Brian Smith, 23, of Norbrook Close, Kingston 8, was Thursday arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport and charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
He has been charged with possession of, dealing in and taking steps to export ganja.
The CCN said that at about 12:00 pm, Smith was about to board a flight to Barbados when he was searched at the security checkpoint. Several packages with ganja amounting to 4.3 kilograms (9 1/2lbs.) were found strapped to his body. He is booked to appear in the Half Way Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Alleged JUTC bus robber killed by mob
A man who allegedly robbed a conductress on a JUTC bus was killed by a mob in the Mongoose Town area of Waltham Park Road, Kingston 11, on Thursday.
He has been identified as Shawn Rose, otherwise called Prisoner, 33, of Delacree Lane, Kingston 11.
The police reported that at about 7:20 pm, Rose who had reportedly robbed a conductress on a JUTC bus, was making his escape through Mongoose Town when he was set upon by a mob. The police were summoned and on their arrival, Rose’s lifeless body was found with a stab wound to the right shoulder and gunshot wounds to the chest and head. Cash amounting to $450.00 and the conductress’ handbag were recovered from the scene.
The St Andrew South Police who are investigating say Rose attended the Half Way Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning facing charges for crimes committed in the Hunts Bay area and was granted bail.
