Jamaica can’t afford new Parliament building, says Seaga
Few persons doubt that Jamaica needs a new Parliament building. Parliamentarians and visitors, after all, are often shoulder-to-shoulder in the non-descript downtown facility.
But Opposition Leader Edward Seaga says “Jamaica is a poor country” and just can’t afford a new building at this time.
“Parliamentarians should make do with what we have or turn to the Jamaica Conference Centre Downtown, as I have suggested in the past, until those who run Parliament can provide a better economy which can afford grand projects,” he argued.
Jamaica can’t afford more “grandiose monuments costing hundreds of millions of dollars,” he added.
