Catch of the day
Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Many persons will as of today, refuse red and some white meats. We make no such promise at The Foodpage. Our belief is that a little of everything is great for the body and soul. But for those who have, we will focus for the next three Thursdays in Lent on fish meals from several eateries done in all the favourite Jamaican ways.
What better place to start than Hellshire where Sunday breakfast is eaten. Patrons enjoy freshly caught snapper and parrot smothered with Scotch bonnet pepper, onions, pimento and vinegar and hot festival or bammy fingers. Washed down with coconut water (it’s Lent), it seems the perfect way to go.
Be prepared until Easter Sunday however, to pay top dollar for fish, even sprats.
